Katie Moore and Andrew Horton
Genre: americana, Contemporary Folk, Roots, Singer Songwriter, Storyteller
Montrealers Katie Moore and Andrew Horton have been playing music together for years. This comes through in their effortless playing and harmony singing. They share a deep love for old-time country and bluegrass, folk and Americana, and they play all the hits and the lesser-known classics as well as their originals. They can’t wait to bring their guitars and sing duets from their most recent album.
Katie’s songs are built around a persuasive simplicity and anchored by her unique voice. She has released four solo albums, her most recent album, 2015’s Fooled by the Fun, was hailed by No Depression as “one of the strongest Americana releases by a Canadian this year.” She has sung with a range of Montreal musicians, from Socalled to Patrick Watson.
Andrew is frontman for the Firemen, the country band that brought the honky-tonk to Montreal. Originally from BC, he plays bass, guitar and sings in a range of musical styles, from country and bluegrass to classical. He plays double bass with Canada’s premier orchestras, including the Montreal Symphony Orchestra and the Canadian Opera Company. He also plays upright bass in Notre Dame de Grass, and brings his high lonesome, high tenor sound to Montreal’s leading bluegrass band.
